The 2026 world volleyball season has given plenty to discuss. Several national teams have asserted themselves as genuine contenders for the World Championship, which will take place in autumn 2026.
Season leaders
Poland continues to hold its status as the hegemon of world volleyball. Przybysz-Słupski has set a new benchmark for outside hitter efficiency, while coach Nikola Grbić has built a balanced roster without obvious weak positions.
Italy confirmed its high level with phenomenal reception work and varied attacking play. The Squadra Azzurra is considered the main gold medal contender.
Brazil recovered from its disastrous 2022 World Championship and is once again competing for medals. Experienced setter Dante Exxon returned stability to the team.
WC 2026 forecast
In our assessment the final will be between Poland and Italy. Poland is a slight favourite, but on a good day Italy can overturn any scenario.
