Forty-five days to the World Cup: Kontiolahti opens with an individual on 26 November, the Worlds are in Otepää

There is no biathlon race in October, which is the news if the feed is still living on Norway’s summer championships. From 12 October it is 45 days to the first World Cup shot. The 2026/27 season, on the calendar Olympteka lays out, starts on 26 November in Kontiolahti, Finland, and ends on 21 March 2027 in Oslo, at Holmenkollen. Ten rounds, not nine: the first stop was shortened and a January round was added.

The opening weekend is timed, in Moscow hours. On 26 November at 18:10 the men race a 20 km individual. On the 27th at 18:10 the women race 15 km. On the 28th the single mixed relay is at 15:10 and the mixed relay at 17:15. On the 29th the sprints: men, 10 km, at 15:00, women, 7.5 km, at 18:15. That grid is pre-season. It says itself that the clock can move once the winter starts.

Where the Worlds are, and where the Russian Cup is

The World Championships sit outside the Cup points: Otepää, Estonia, 10–21 February 2027. Before that, the Christmas break is longer than the old one. One detailed layout has the last race of 2026 on 13 December in Le Grand-Bornand, and the next on 2–3 January in Pokljuka. Nothing on the World Cup in between. Then Ruhpolding, Antholz, Nove Mesto, the break for the Worlds, then Oberhof, Östersund and Holmenkollen.

The domestic Russian season starts before the Finnish Cup, but not in October. Stage 1 of the 2026/27 Russian Cup is Khanty-Mansiysk, 2–6 December. Five events: women’s 7.5 km sprint, men’s 10 km sprint, two pursuits, a mixed relay. On 12 October the men’s sprint is still listed as not started, with no results. Stage 2 is Uvat, 10–13 December. Stage 3 is Ufa, 17–20 December.

International eligibility is not folded into this note. In October there is no race to break down by shooting. There is a calendar, and it is already specific: 26 November, 18:10, 20 kilometres, Kontiolahti.
