August is test-skate season in figure skating: Grand Prix assignments firm up before Angers opens the series on Oct 23–25. Readiness — not eligibility headlines — decides start lists.
Why test skates matter
Press releases do not prove quad stability or free-skate stamina. With a deeper neutral pool, every stage slot costs more.
Follow the path in figure skating.
Season frame
August–September run-throughs, Angers in October, Chongqing Final, Lausanne Europeans 2027.
Make test skates the August product
Readiness notes, assignment updates and Angers preview outperform a vague Grand Prix teaser. Cluster neutrals → skates → assignments → stage preview.
How to read a test skate
Repeatability under fatigue beats one clean short program. Use a fixed note template by discipline, then point everything toward Angers.
