City win 3-0 at Anfield, Coventry–Newcastle is tonight, the Champions League starts tomorrow

Sunday at Anfield finished 0-3. Manchester City took the points, and all three goals arrived after Ryan Gravenberch’s second yellow. Sky and the BBC put the red card on 62 minutes. Erling Haaland scored on 65, Jérémy Doku on 68, Rayan Cherki on 78. City’s own report names the same three and says the win made it six from six: 18 points, three clear of Arsenal.

Liverpool’s club report calls it their first defeat of the season. The second yellow, then Haaland and Doku, then Cherki after Joško Gvardiol’s flick. They had not lost. They lost at home, a man down, to the leaders.

It was also City’s first match since an independent commission’s verdict on the Premier League financial charges. The BBC and Sky both note that the club denies wrongdoing and has appealed. The score does not move because of that. The week of retelling does.

The rest of the table

Saturday was not only Anfield. Arsenal beat Leeds 2-1 at home. Chelsea beat Bournemouth 5-1, and the BBC’s live page named Dean Henderson twice among the scorers. Manchester United and Tottenham drew 1-1: Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead, Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off, Dominic Solanke equalised in stoppage time. That is the BBC account.

Monday 12 October is still a league night. Coventry host Newcastle at 22:00 Moscow, 20:00 British summer time, at the Coventry Building Society Arena. No team sheet here until the clubs publish one.

Tuesday flips the week to Europe. Champions League matchday 2 is 13 and 14 October. The main kickoffs are 22:00 Moscow, the early ones 19:45. Tuesday includes Atlético against United and Arsenal against Lille. Wednesday at the same hour is City against PSG and Roma against Real Madrid. Matchday 3, including Bayern and Arsenal, is 20–21 October. Leave it out of this week.

The next Premier League weekend is 17–19 October. Saturday’s early game is Everton–Chelsea at 14:30 Moscow. Sunday’s late game is Nottingham Forest–Arsenal at 18:30. Monday 19 October is 22:00 again: Tottenham–Coventry. Those hours are the league’s October list, converted from BST.
